This custom-built lean-to style front porch cover was designed to bring both functional shelter and architectural enhancement to the home’s main entryway. The goal was to create a seamless extension of the home that not only offered protection from the elements but also elevated curb appeal with clean lines, durable materials, and thoughtful detailing. The resulting structure blends structural reliability with refined design, providing a warm, welcoming impression from the moment you approach the home.
The cover features a low-profile lean-to roofline supported by Skylift roof risers, which raise the cover above the home’s fascia for improved airflow, natural light, and visual continuity. This elevated connection allows the roof to integrate cleanly with the existing structure while maintaining a feeling of openness and space. The underside of the roof is finished with a crisp, covered soffit that creates a polished, enclosed look—providing not just protection, but a sense of architectural completion.
Sturdy 6×6 pressure-treated posts serve as the primary supports, carefully positioned for both balance and symmetry. These posts are anchored with Simpson Strong-Tie fasteners, including their decorative Outdoor Accents brackets, which add visual charm while reinforcing the integrity of the structure. For practical water management, a system of aluminum seamless gutters was installed to blend effortlessly with the home’s exterior—ensuring runoff is directed away from the foundation while maintaining a clean, modern profile.
Finishing touches like the pre-primed fascia boards were included to allow easy color matching to the existing house trim, giving the client flexibility for future paint customization. Every detail—from the slope of the roof to the spacing of the brackets—was carefully considered to ensure the porch cover complements the home without overpowering it. The result is a durable, low-maintenance addition that enhances everyday usability while significantly improving first impressions.
This lean-to porch cover reflects Sunno Construction’s dedication to craftsmanship, proportion, and long-term value—delivering a front entry solution that is as elegant as it is enduring. The primary objective of this project was to design and build a stylish and structurally sound front porch cover that would seamlessly integrate with the home’s architecture while providing durable protection from the elements. The client wanted a solution that offered both functional benefits—like shade, rain protection, and improved water management—and a significant boost to curb appeal. The structure needed to feel like a natural extension of the home, not an afterthought, while also delivering low-maintenance performance over time.
Special consideration was given to structural components, finish-ready materials, and decorative accents that would ensure long-term durability and visual consistency. The lean-to style was selected for its low-profile design and efficient footprint, while Skylift risers allowed the roof to sit higher without interfering with existing rooflines or trim. The goal was to maximize function and aesthetic without compromising simplicity.
