This project was designed with a clear, twofold objective: to transform a rough, underutilized outdoor area into a functional space for entertaining, relaxing, and grilling , and to protect that space from the elements with a patio cover that felt intentional and fully integrated into the home. The emphasis throughout the project was on creating a space that added daily usability and long-term value without compromising the home’s existing character.
We began with the lean-to patio cover , as it defined both the function and visual presence of the space. The cover is supported by two wrapped columns and a structural glulam beam spanning the full width, and we re-framed the existing roofline to create a seamless tie-in while ensuring proper roof pitch and water drainage.
To preserve natural light, skylights were added to the new roof structure, keeping the covered area bright and open. A textured soffit was then installed to conceal exposed framing, and the entire structure was paint-matched to the existing home to create a clean, cohesive finish.
Once the cover was complete, we moved on to the deck. The homeowner selected Deckorators Venture decking in the Saltwater color, installed in a picture-frame layout to hide cut ends and deliver a refined look. We finished the space with a matching Deckorators aluminum railing system designed for long-term durability and minimal maintenance.
The end result is a cohesive deck and patio cover system that transforms the backyard into a true extension of the home—one that is inviting, protected, and built to last .
